| So, where to start........
Perhaps with a dear friends statement - It's better to in the middle of
a row that does not move, than to be the last car in a row that does not
move.... about the caotic situation in the parking gorunds at the Faenol
Estate - it took us a couple of hours to get out.
Or ..... with us waiting outside the Albert for nearly
1 1/2 hour just to say thank you to Michael .....
No, I'll start this story in Bangor. We arrived at the
station in Bangor Satuday evening, after having met up in London. A very
short walk to our nice, little hotel (only 12 rooms) and Andrew, the
reseptionist who took so good care of us.
Finding something to eat, was not easy...... only the
pub had still food on the meny, and we along with everyone in Bangore
where there to eat and drink and have a good time.
Sunday the weather was good, we went for a walk onto
the pir, and had our tea there. A wonderful view over Snowdonia National
Park, and the lovly red heather. A magnificent view, and lots
of boats sailing in the breeze. We were so glad. Everyone had told us it
used to be rain this week end every year, but this year the Bryn Fetival
had been blessed with good weather.
After dinner with our Welsh friends we drove to the
Festival, and so did over 10000 others. A "full house" a far as I could
tell. Lots of people had spent the week end at the Faenol Estate to be
there for all four days of different shows. Everyone agreed it had been
a very good festival so far, and were looking forward to tonights "The
Hills Are Alive" with Bryn Terfel, Connie Fisher, Ruthie Henshall, John
Oven Jones and Michael Ball.
BBC Wales filmed the show, and broadcasted it live on
the Radio. For those who could not be there, it must have been a geat
show to listen to.
It was a show filled with every song you would love to
listen to - from Sound of Music, Chess,South Pasific,Miss Saigon,Les
Miserables and many more. A musical lover like myself it was the
best of shows.John Oven Jones soon to leave West End to take on Jean
Valjean on Brodway, version of Spider Woman was great. I've only heard
Peter Jöback sing that before.
The medley from Chess for me the best part was
Michael & Ruthie's "You and I(Drömmer av glas)" and Anthem. I've always
said that I prefere Tommy Körberg's version, but not anymore. Michael's
voice is no som much more richer, deeper, and mature than before ,and
his version is great. He did reprise the song in RAH the next day, and I
was moved to tears.....
Some day I hope to hear Michael sing "Some enchanted
evening" from South Pasific. Bryn Terfel did a great rentidion of the
song.
What a great voice Ruthie Henshall has.Her rendition
of songs from musical theatre, made me realise the praise she has been
giving has been well deserved.
Connie Fisher, Maria in Sound of Music, was a nice
acquaintance. She has a lovely voice. Her duetts with Bryn and Michael
gave a good sound picture... and the kiss..... lasted for a looong time.
You should have seen the smile on Michael's face ......Michael sang his
heart out in This is The Moment, A Boy from Nowhere and lots more. I
felt it was the "dressrehearsal " for Proms no.58. Capital Voices was
there, and Callum directed the orchestra.

When the full moon hang over Snowdonia, we had all
goosebumps listening to "One Day More" - what a scenic site to
have an outdoor concert. It was marvellous. And so were the fireworks.
A festival well worth revisiting.
BBC Proms no 58 in the Royal Albert Hall
Monday morning, we headed for London. A comfortable 3
hous on the train, and we were back in London at our hotel in Soth
Kensington, in easy walking distance from the Royal Albert Hall.
We had had great luck in the "Proms Lottery" and had
our tickets to Prom no 58. The first Prom to sell out.
Could not have had better view and listen facilites.
Hope this will be the first in a row for Michael....
Spesical guests were Alfie Boe(La Boheme/Kismet) and
Lara Michelle Kelly(Mary Popins/Lord of the Rings).
Michael had told us at the Kismet stage door, he was
rehearsing "The Perl Fisher Duett" with Alfie Boe, and we were looking
forward to hear them together.
Michael sang "The Prayer" with Lara Michelle Kelly.
Just beautiful.
After having had dinner and coctails with friends, it
was time to walk to the Albert Hall. Alongside 8000 others. All dressed
up for this special night.
Since the concert had been broadcasted on both radio
and telvision by BBC Radio 3 and TV4, I'sure you all have seen og
listened to the show by now.
The atmosphere was electric. Everyone looking forward
to this special event. For the first time a Musical Theatre top turn had
been asked to have his own Proms concert. What an honour for Michael
Bal. He was lifted forward from the feeling of all in the audience
wanting this to be a very special and great night.
And it was ! Michael was very nervous, but landed it
all with flying colours. What an entertainer the man is.We sat there,
looking at eachother and shaking our heads. What a voice this man has.
When the show was over, not only Michael Ball was
moved to the tears, no eye was dry in the house....
Thank you for a wonderful evening. I got to say it to
Michael afterwards, and he was just on cloud nine,as you can
imagine.
I have an request of the BBC - please, make this Proms
no 58 available for purchase for other TV-stations like SVT,NRK, DR and
so on............. It may be the best way to promote Michael Ball
outside Great Britain.
